One of the first things I drew in my current sketchbook were these lesser demons, servants of Phosphorus. In modern pop culture there is a tendency to portray demons as unsubtle beings of literal darkness, which is wrong in my view. The archetypal demon's way of causing harm is not to go around biting or stabbing people, but to deceive them.  Fallen angels are subtle creatures that, although ontologically we could say they are in cardinal darkness, frequently use the promise of enlightenment to corrupt humans.

Remember: they will tell you their "gifts" will lead to liberation, but in reality the fire of Prometheus is always used to forge instruments of death and chains of servitude.
